Discovery Channel announced its lineup for the Fall 2011 season on its blog yesterday, including a new reality show based in Arizona called Desert Car Kings.
The show features the McClure family that searches for and restores classic vehicles. The family owns Desert Valley Auto Parts in Phoenix, which is currently home to more than 10,000 vehicles on a 100-acre lot.
On the show/in real life, the McClure family and their entourage of car junkies are on the hunt for classic cars in need of restoration. They find the clunkers in backyards, barn houses and in that huge lot of theirs, repair them and sell them at auction.
We got a hold of Jason McClure, who (spoiler alert!) was busy setting up for a demolition derby for the show, but will talk to us more in depth next week, so stay tuned ...
The Discovery Channel calls Desert Car Kings a comfort food show -- a show that proves everyone can find junk in their backyard, fix it up, and turn a profit. And we'll have to wait until January 28, when Desert Car Kings premieres to find out if it's worth the work.
