Cult animator Don Hertzfeldt's award winning three short films involving the life and times of stick-figure "Bill" will be shown Saturday, November 24 at Phoenix Center for the Arts.

"Everything Will Be OK," I Am So Proud of You," and "It's Such a Beautiful Day" are three separate short films that work together as chapters in the 77-minute long feature film "It's Such a Beautiful Day."

Within the films, Hertzfeldt uses various methods of traditional animation, manipulated photography and optical effects blended with his wit and unique sense of storytelling. This combination has won Hertzfeldt numerous awards at festivals including Sundance Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival as well as an Oscar nomination.

Below is an example of Hertzfeldt's work called "Wisdom Teeth."

The event is being put on by local independent film promotion company No Festival Required and Cinemad Presents.

Executive Director at No Festival Required, Steve Weiss first discovered Hertzfeldt's work almost a decade ago and had been trying to book something with the artist ever since.

"I stumbled across Don's work in 2004 when I was looking for leads to the now defunct 'Animation Show,' a series of shorts curated by Mike Judge (of Beavis and Butthead, King of the Hill) and Don of world-class animators, which used to run in the underground and art-house cinema movement," writes Weiss.

After reaching out to the distributor of "It's Such a Beautiful Day," Weiss was finally afforded the opportunity to book a screening and says everyone needs to see this show.

"I am truly in awe of his simple yet eloquent work," writes Weiss.

"This trilogy is not simply just funny as his previous work, but that's the point. His simple style, with real animation techniques in a world of computer animation, delights me."
