If you haven't stopped by chic, LGBT-centric hangout Amsterdam for some late night weekend dance session, tomorrow evening will be your last chance to do so. As in ever. The downtown Phoenix dance parlor, which has been around since the late '90s, will close after one final party on Saturday night.
A message was posted on Amsterdam's Facebook page earlier today concerning its shuttering, as well as dropping hints about what sort of nightlife business will replace it later this year.

The post, which we're certain broke the hearts of many of the club's regular gay and straight patrons, didn't give any details regarding why it's closing, although we're guessing it probably had something to do with money.
After 15 years serving the LGBT community, Amsterdam bids Phoenix a fond farewell. Join us for one last blowout celebration this Saturday Aug. 17th!
The club was opened along Central Avenue in 1998 by local gay nightlife impresario Steven Rogers, who owned notorious Scottsdale spot The Works way back in the day and later launched DWNTWN (originally known as Crowbar) and Palazzo next door to Amsterdam.
It's undergone a number of changes over the last 15 years and was more of an upscale lounge and piano bar kind of place with late-night dancing. While ostensibly gay and lesbian-focused, we've known many straight women who loved going to Amsterdam to dance.
It's always featured tons of martinis on its menu (numbering into the hundreds) but has undergone a renovation or two over the years, including a changeover to more of a dance club focus in 2011.
The Facebook message announcing Amsterdam's closure also stated that the proprietors of nearby bar and restaurant BLISS/rebar will be launching a new concept at the property two months from now.
"The old Amsterdam is the new home for Phoenix's newest and sure-to-be next iconic bar and dance club coming this fall. From the owners of Bliss ReBAR, a new, fresh face will emerge with the grand opening planned for Rainbows Festival weekend, Oct. 18-20."
