Farrelli's Cinema Supper Club announced on Sunday that it's closing its doors after 10 years in business and a "huge struggle to keep Farrelli's open between 9/11, the uncooperative movie industry, and the recession."

Farrelli's was the lone "dinner and a movie" joint in the Valley for most of its lifetime until iPic Theaters at the Scottsdale Quarter opened last year.

Movie chain AMC also launched "Fork & Screen" at its Esplanade 14 last month.

The closing was sad news to its regular patrons, many of whom posted their feelings on its Facebook page. And while the theater may not have been able to eek out enough income to survive, it was popular with families, particularly those who couldn't make it out to the movies very often.

The theater generally featured second-run movies that had already been screened weeks or months prior in other cinemas. (For instance, Farrelli's most recent lineup included Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, both of which were released in August).
