Artist: Francisco Garcia
Medium: Mural (on 23rd Avenue and Buckeye Road in Phoenix)
In 2009, I had read an article in the New Times of a Maricopa County deputy who had broken a mothers arm and interrogated her. Their reasoning for committing such an act was because she was undocumented, from my understanding this took place in front of her own home. There is too much racism and oppressive laws presently occurring in my home state of Arizona. As an artist I knew I had to speak out for those silenced voices.
