Beginning in September, you can be in the to-be-determined group of funnymen and women performing in Friday Night Live, a live-action variety show in the vein of Saturday Night Live.

Unlike loose-running open-mic events, this locally-produced performance-art shindig will be a choreographed event, complete with scripts, cues, and all of that good stuff.

According to the press release, FNL is looking for seven to ten persons that "can memorize scripts, create characters, sing, be silly, be normal, and perform on stage." Once actors and scriptwriters are chosen, the creative types will meet and sculpt the entertainment that is scheduled to take place at The Firehouse's popular outdoor stage and community-gathering area in the fall.

The first casting-call block is slated to start at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26. Here are some must-dos leading up to the weekend's big event:

* Contact Kristy Theilen at [email protected] to schedule an audition.

* Pick up a copy of the script book at The Firehouse, 1015 North First Street.

* Once said script book is in your hands, you must have a prepared song ready to go (your choices are "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga, or the traditional "Home on the Range"), a part of a skit all ironed out, and be on the ready to audition a part on the spot.
