Mi casa es su casa, Phoenix.

At least that's how participants in the Friends of Mexican Art (FOMA) Home Tour and Mexican Mercado feel. The organization, which aims to promote Latin American art in Arizona, has recruited four Valley homes for its annual self-guided tour and fundraiser set to happen Sunday, February 22. Guests of the tour will be able to explore private residences that showcase worldly art and design as well as purchase pieces for themselves from art dealers at the Mexican Mercado.

The tour will feature El Chaparral, a historic 1936 Arcadia home designed by architect Edward Loomis Bowes, known for designing Camelback Inn, with works by artists including, Philip Curtis, Jim Davis, Jon Muth, and Kevin Sloan. Also on view in Arcadia will be the Casa Amable, a 1915 adobe that's home to a collection Mexican and Spanish antiques.

Latin American antique dealers, Holler & Saunders Ltd., will set up shop inside an internationally inspired 1957 home in Sherwood Heights that features artworks by Beverly McIver, Bob Carey, Ed Mell, Malcolm Lightner, and Kevin Sloan.

The actual mercado, however, will be open in a 1952 ranch home in Fairway Park. This event is exclusive to home tour participants. In addition to perusing the market, visitors can view the Southwestern hacienda's collection of work by artists including R.C. Gorman, Diane Hansen, Frank Howell, Alexandra Nechita, and Delona Roberts.

The FOMA Home Tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 22. Tickets can be purchased for $35 online or in person at Fiesta Furnishings, The Purple Lizard, and Pearson & Company. Interested visitors can also call 602-334-6585 the day of the event for locations where tickets can be purchased. A portion of admission sales will benefit the FOMA organization. There is no designated starting point for the tour. A detailed map and brochure is included with the tickets. For more information, visit www.friendsofmexicanart.org.
