If you've been searching for the right pair of jeans for months now, you're in luck. Lawless Denim & Co. will open its doors on Saturday, October 12, at Cityscape in downtown Phoenix.

The location will serve dual purposes with one side being used as a retail space where leather goods, Wolverine boots, and locally made bow ties will be for sale. On the other side will be a manufacturing shop where shop owner Roman Acevedo and Lawless Denim employees will produce 100 percent handmade and custom fitted jeans, making it the first and only denim manufacturer in the state.

Shoppers choose from 25 different types of denim, 10 different styles (such as high-rise, boyfriend, boot cut, etc.), and pick from a plethora of button finishes and thread colors in order to create custom jeans for about $245.

Various styles of ready-made jeans will also be available for tailor fitting and purchase from $85 to $180.

Lawless Denim uses selvedge denim, which means the material was made on pre-World War II looms and produced in very small batches. It sources the material from American and Japanese denim mills. The staff works with vintage sewing machines and brass hardware to stay true to the classic American method of jean-making.

"It's all about keeping with tradition and bringing each customer a truly unique and custom-made pair of jeans that will easily become their favorite pair of jeans," says Roman Acevedo, owner of Lawless Denim & Co. and Phoenix resident, via press release.

Maya Vita, the store's senior designer, will individually consult with customers to help them select the best style and cut for their body. Vita's biggest hopes for the store are that it will create jobs within the community and provide Phoenicians with an opportunity to experience first hand how their garments are made, she says in an e-mail.

"Denim is a fabric with no target demographic meaning its for everyone, we want to bring forth a good quality product that appeals to the masses and the best part about downtown is its diversity, from hipsters to the executives," Vita says.

To celebrate the grand opening, Lawless Denim will be offering a custom-made pair of jeans to customers for only $175 for its first week of business, October 13 through 20.

"You can't get anything like this in Arizona. In cities like New York and Los Angeles, you'll typically pay $400 for custom jeans. Our jeans are handmade to your body type with high-quality denim in classic styles that will never go out of style," Acevedo says.

Lawless Denim & Co. is open daily. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and noon to 7 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, visit Lawless Denim's website, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
