Phoenix Design Week (actually a three-week event) will begin in October, and local designers are finalizing personal projects and joining efforts to raise awareness about local design and the importance of creative collaboration.

In the works, says PHXDW founder Mark Dudlik, is a pop-up Phoenix Design Museum, which will host a permanent collection and temporary exhibitions of local and national design.

Last month, Dudlik opened Ignorance & Ambition, a locally sourced, online design shop where you can snag a few goods that'll support the museum (and the design community).

Ignorance & Ambition sells limited-edition design products; each available for a month at a time.

While you might have missed last month's T-shirts, it's not too late to order a set of 1-inch buttons by Kat Randall, Zack Newsome, Lindsay Tingstrom-Casey, Sarah Uczekaj, Andrew Coppola, Sarah Thomas, and Mark Dudlik. (The set also comes with an official Design Week button that'll grant "special privileges" during the event).

Each full set is $5, but supporters can also toss in additional donations. Orders can be placed for the next 30 days, and will be shipped once the order time slot is closed.

No word yet on the official location of the Phoenix Design Museum, but the opening date has been set for October 2011 and Ignorance & Ambition will serve as the museum's official gift shop.

Stay tuned for more details, and check out the Phoenix Design Week website for more information on upcoming conferences, exhibitions, and collaboration opportunities scheduled from October 5 to 18.
