The unabridged anniversary edition of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy isn't light reading by any stretch of the imagination.
While it might take a few months to polish off the work, local Tolkien fans will have a little over 48 hours to flip through and reacquaint themselves with the trilogy if hope of bludgeoning the competition during the Lord of the Rings Trivia Night on Thursday night at Bookmans in Mesa.
A cerebral war of geek against geek will transpire as LOTR fanatics will be tested on their knowledge of the trials and tribulations of Middle Earth.
Jonathon Simon of renowned geek blog Lightning Octopus will host the event and questioned regarding everything from hirsute Hobbits and hirgons to Helm's Deep and harfoots could possibly be posed during the night.
Although the competition won't be as chaotic and fierce as Saruman's battle with Galdalf inside Isengard, we expect that a few nerds will get pwnd. Those who posses enough knowledge to "rule them all," will claim the prize of tickets to upcoming performance of The Lord of the Rings In Concert: The Fellowship of the Ring on October 12 at Jobing.com Arena.
So unless you're mind has grown weak from too much of the halflings' leaf, crack open your copy of LOTR and start studying.
The Lord of The Rings Trivia Night takes place at 7 p.m. at Bookmans Entertainment Exchange, 1056 South Country Club Drive in Mesa. Click here for more info.
