New Times' Beer Olympics Return to Tempe Marketplace on August 21

If for you "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" is less a Daft Punk song and more of a personal life motto, then we wouldn't be surprised if you fancy yourself something of an Olympian.

Fortunately for those who aren't training to totally crush it during Rio 2016, New Times and Tempe Marketplace are teaming up to host an event you can channel all that competitive energy into. That's right, the second annual Beer Olympics are coming.

Instead of your typical javelin and gymnastics fare, on Friday, August 21, Beer Olympians will take to the outdoor shopping center to compete in flip cup relays, corn hole, giant beer pong, and Jenga. Each participant will receive a scorecard on which they can collect stamps while playing. With three stamps, you'll be entered to win the Triathlon Award. With 10, you'll be entered to win the Decathlon Award (a.k.a. a free trip to Las Vegas).

In addition to sudsy glory, participants can expect sips from Goose Island and Bud Light, live music, and snacks from nearby restaurants.

Sound like your kind of throwdown? Use the code BEERBLOG to nab $15 presale tickets to the Beer Olympics starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, through Ticketfly.

If you're interested in competing as a team, four-packs of tickets are available for $70 and come with an extra drink ticket per team member, a quick check-in the day of the event, and, yup, a head band. The presale ends at 10 p.m. on June 28.

General admission tickets are $20 per person and go on sale June 29 at 10 a.m.

The 21-and-over Beer Olympics run through Tempe Marketplace from 8 to 11 p.m. on Friday, August 21. For more information, visit www.phoenixnewtimes.com/beerolympics.
