Drinking, eating, and perusing local goods is a great way to spend a Wednesday night -- especially when everything's happening at a stylish hub like Trader Vic's at the Hotel Valley Ho.

On Wednesday, April 20, Raven Events will hold its "Sip, Shop & Socialize" mixer at Trader Vic's. The event is free, valet parking is free, and there will be a variety of food and drink specials, musical entertainment, and local clothing and jewelry designers on hand.

Among the drink specials at the mixer: $5 Nimbus Blonde and Kiltlifter draught beers, and $5 glasses of wine, including Nino Franco Prosecco (Italy) and Pacific Rim Autumnus (Washington state). Several $5 food specials will be available as well, including Mezze Plates (baba ghanoush, garlis hummus, and marinated vegetables) and Crispy Calamari (served with lemon and wasabi oil).

Live music will be provided courtesy of local acoustic pop artist Myles David Lancette . Promoters at Raven Events describe Lancette's music as "a blend of John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, and Coldplay," but it reminds us more of '70s folk stars like Cat Stevens and Jackson Browne.

Of course, a mixer wouldn't be as exciting without some vendors to peddle their wares. There will be six businesses at the "Sip, Shop & Socialize Mixer," including footwear artists Toast Your Tootsies and a Tigerlilly Trunk Show featuring "clothing from L.A.'s fashion district."

Forever Retro will also be there, sharing their selection of wally gloves, retro aprons, handbags, and totes. Just Jane Boutique will offer a variety of handbags (from Big Buddha bags to bags with floral and sugar skull designs) and accessories (including Bali Queen bracelets, bling belts, and silicone jelly watches).

Looking for locally-made jewelry? The mixer's got you covered. Check out Stella & Dot Jewelry, or Silpada Designs Jewelry, who'll be showing off sterling silver pieces (often decorated with gems like amethyst and turquoise) from their 116-page catalogue.
