For the second year in a row, Scottsdale Public Art and New Times are teaming up for a spoken word event — and it’s time to party.

Birthday party, that is. “Stories with a Splash: A Birthday Party” will be presented in conjunction with the public art celebration Canal Convergence at the Soleri Bridge and Plaza; the evening’s theme is inspired by Scottsdale Public Art’s 30th anniversary. Readers are Elizabeth Maria Naranjo, Sara Palmer, Robrt Pela, Amy Silverman and Brad Snyder.

Canal Convergence brings local and international artists to install public works at the Scottsdale Waterfront. The free event runs from Thursday, February 25, through Sunday, February 28, and includes activities and performances.

Stories with a Splash will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 26. Tickets are $30 and available through tickets.scottsdaleperformingarts.org. There will be birthday treats and an on-site cash bar. See scottsdalepublicart.org for more.
