When motocross superstar Robbie Maddison released his latest collection of signature gear and a stunt/action video this week, we watched the death-defying tricks and massive, air-catching jumps with glossy eyes.

And then we realized Maddison picked a very familiar backdrop.

Off of Interstate 10 in southern Tucson is an aircraft boneyard where military and commercial planes go to rust. In early 2012, big-name New York curators Eric Firestone and Carlo McCormick raided the boneyard, snapped up a series of nosecones and sent them to artists around the country, and purchased four DC Super 3 planes and flew in street art heroes ROA, How & Nosm, Nunca, and Retna to give them modern paint jobs.

The two hosted a blowout art show, art collectors from around the country flew in to see the large-scale canvases, and when the dust settled, the most of the planes returned to the boneyard to collect dust.

That is, until Maddison showed up.

The 31-year-old adrenaline junkie and the DC Shoe crew filmed for three days at the boneyard in Tucson, creating ramps, jumps, and drops from more than 50 planes and a number of shipping containers.

And the result is AIR.CRAFT, an eye-candy montage of Maddison's incredible freestyle motocross skills that will likely make his fans drool.

The athlete has made a name for himself performing a variety of Evil Knievel-esque stunts, including motocross sequences for James Bond in Skyfall, and a record-breaking motorcycle jump of 322 feet, 7.5 inches at the Rio All- Suite Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas.

The video marks the launch of a "new genre of videos," according to DC and also marks the debut of Maddison's Teamworks Collection of footwear and apparel as well as his signature DC Motocross gear. You can check out more of the collection on the DC website.
