Each week, Jackalope Ranch brings you a free event, workshop, or you-name-it happening in Phoenix. Because sometimes the best things in life really are free. This week's freebie: Yarnball at Lawn Gnome Publishing.
Thanks to internet trolls, identity theft, and an unexplained dent in your car door, it's pretty easy to form a negative opinion of the human race. Fortunately there are still those small acts of kinds to remind us that society is not entirely doomed: the opening of a door, the retrieval of a lost pet, and this week's open mic at Lawn Gnome Publishing.

Every Wednesday from 8 to 10 p.m., Lawn Gnome Publishing hosts Yarnball, a free all-ages storytelling event highlighted by weekly themes- this week's theme: The Kindness of Strangers.
Hosted by Phoenix comic, Dan Hull, the event features 5- to 8-minute acts from local storytellers telling their tales in the first-person. Interested performers can sign up by visiting the Lawn Gnome Publishing event page on Facebook or by contacting them at 602-753-8920, and interested listeners can simply show up (the show is always free).
