It is a new year, and for many that means time for new resolutions. Recommended resolution for this year: Do some yoga.

It's a bit easier of a "workout" routine than joining something intense like cross fit or training for a marathon, and if you're already into intense exercising, yoga is a great complement to that routine. Here's a roundup of offers for the new year from some yoga studios in Phoenix.

Sumits Yoga Biltmore Sumits is hot yoga on steroids -- 105 degrees to be exact. The sequences are the same for each class, combining Bikram and Vinyasa styles of yoga.

As a new student, you can get two weeks of unlimited yoga for $20. If you're new or already a student, you can take part in the yoga challenge starting January 5. By taking part in the challenge, you earn 1% discount for each consecutive day you practice, for up to 30% off a package. Visit the studio for details.

Urban Yoga Urban Yoga is a hip studio in uptown Phoenix. New students can get two weeks of unlimited yoga for $25. There's also a 20% discount on the first package you purchase if you purchase with in the first two weeks. Urban Yoga also has a special for the new year: buy a six month package ($569) and receive on half off that you can share with a friend or a family member.

Desert Song Desert Song offers yoga and massage therapies in a relaxed and low key studio. For first time students, the studio offers two weeks of unlimited yoga for $29. Desert song offers class card packages that allows you to save when you buy classes upfront. Class cards expire after one year from the day the card is bought.

The Madison Improvement Club New on the scene, this studio opened in early fall and will be having a grand opening party on January 12. "The Madison," as its known is offering a $20 gift card to their "S.e.e.d." cafe when you purchase a 25 class pack ($300) or a monthly membership ($149).

SuTRA Yoga Sutra Yoga in midtown phoenix also offers massage and a café. It has two "resolution passes" one for each level of commitment. You can purchase a six month membership or a 12 month membership up to 30% off ($525-$915). They also offer an introductory package for new students looking to freshen up their lifestyle; $99 for a month of unlimited Skullpt & Yoga classes.

Lululemon Nothing could be better than free. Lululemon at the Biltmore Fashion Park, purveyor of fine yoga clothes, offers free yoga once a week. Usually at 10:30 on Sundays. But check their schedule and facebook for updates.
