I'm going to go ahead and focus on this Saturday event for today's blog since I know you already have your calendar filled for Friday...riiiiight?

If you don't, mark it right now for our Best of Phoenix Wonderland art show, will ya?

So now that you've got your Friday all figured out, here's a little something for Saturday:

It's a celebration of SMoCA's three fall season exhibition followed by a SMoCA Nights after-hours party.

Starting at 6 p.m. in the Stage 2 Theater, you can hear a panel discussion by video and film artists Jon Fisher & Jeff Shore, Aaron Rothman and Jennifer West who will talk about their pieces in the southwestNET: film & video - Looking Through the Other End of a Telescope exhibition.

Then head to the museum for a public opening reception of the three exhibitions (the aforementioned southwestNET, Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth and Unexpected Wegman). Not only will the panel artists be there, but so will artist Nick Cave.

9 p.m. is when the party really starts outside with DJ Brazilia spinning some sweet, sweet sounds and a local fashion designer runway competition. Watch ten semi-finalists walk their best garments down the runway for the grand prize of a solo fashion show on Southbridge Runway Scottsdale Fashion Week on November 6th.

The artist panel discussion and opening are free and tickets to SMoCA Nights is $15 as usual.

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, 7374 East 2nd St. in Scottsdale, 480-874-4666, www.smoca.org.
