70s rock act The Doobie Brothers will play the main stage at the Fiesta Bowl Block Party in the Mill Avenue District of Tempe. The band, which has sold 50 million records, won several Grammys, and charted 16 top 40 hits (including two number 1 hits), played the half-time show of the Orange Bowl last year, warming up for this.

The Fiesta Bowl Block Party, by my calculation the largest in the time zone, will also have a beer garden, dueling pianos, a dance club, country stage, fireworks displays, and street performers. The show starts at 5 p.m. and goes until 12:30 a.m. on December 31, with The Doobie Brothers scheduled to perform at 11:15 p.m. Tickets for the Block Party can be purchased for $15 at Fry's Food & Drug Stores or for $20 through the Fiesta Bowl Ticket Office.
