Anyone who's ever loved someone and not had it returned knows it sucks. "I love you not" is just not something you want to hear.
Which is why this poster for The Love Me Nots' show this Friday, June 18 at Martini Ranch is so influential. The woman just ripped the guy's heart straight from his chest, leaving a bloody mess behind--and it doesn't look like she's cleaning it up, either.
"The art is just an illustration of ultimate heartbreak, whether it be a failed relationship or unrequited love," says designer Michael Johnny Walker, who also sings and plays guitar for the band.
Not that Walker's in a sad relationship state currently. He's married to singer and organ player Nicole Laurenne, and the pair have traveled all over the U.S. and Europe with the band.
This is the last local show for the garage rock band until the end of August, and this weekend they're joined by fellow fuzz-loving group The Dead Eyes of London, who also play a mix of 60's era garage rock mixed with psychadelic sounds.
"People can expect a high-energy night of good music that makes you want to dance," says The Dead Eyes of London vocalist/guitarist Chan Schulman. "Literally, just like it was back in the 50's and 60's."
