Everyone knows how difficult it is to raise the funds for a musical project you want to start. Josh Wise, a member of Brooklyn's French Kicks, is working on a multi-faceted solo project.

It's ambitious. It involves limited-edition LPs, a video project, paintings, and live shows. The problem is, even though he's in a trendy New York band, he doesn't have the dough to finish the project.

Given that this is a problem nearly all musicians face at some point, you probably either have sympathy for this guy or loathe the way he's begging for cash to press limited-edition vinyl. Maybe a little of both.

Personally, I have a soft spot for Wise, and think it'd be really cool to see this project play out in its entirety. I often say that he's like a "musical lozenge" because I find his voice and his work to be quite soothing. So I'm in his corner.

A friend of mine turned me on to a site called Kickstarter, which allows artists to put up a description of a project, and allows fans to contribute to the cause, so I now know how I can help. If you contribute to Wise's project, the contribution acts as a pre-order of the record or DVD, and your funds also help finance the artwork. Check out the site and you may find your lozenges need funding too.
