Downtown Phoenix's music scene might (or might not) be "ovah," but at least its club scene is continuing to thrive.
For instance, the Hotel San Carlos is opening its new Ghost Lounge tonight with a boffo benefit and party. The bar/club is located in the lobby of the vintage hotel, replacing what used to be the Copper Door.
As its name portends, the Ghost Lounge plays off the San Carlos' popular status as a "haunted" building.
According to the folks at the hotel, the only kind of spirits involved will the ones being served behind its snazzy new bar. Gone is the dark wood of its predecessor, in lieu of plenty of shiny new glass and steel.
Other than the new name and new look, the space will remain much the same. DJs and dancing will go down every Saturday night and a weekly karaoke session takes place on Wednesdays.
Tonight's grand opening party promises to be a bit more uproarious than just wanna-be singers working the mic, however, and will include hourly prize raffles and music from DJ Danny Boy. Doors open at 7 p.m.
