Hollywood Alley is closing at the end of the month, and the move looks to have been sudden for everybody concerned; as recently as July 10, they were still planning a Labor Day blowout for the Mesa venue's 25th anniversary.

Since the abrupt announcement, Hollywood Alley's Facebook page has become a scrolling memorial -- musicians, regulars, and lapsed show-goers are sharing photos and memories and even an offer to play bass if anybody in the last week of shows is missing a rhythm section.

But they've been resourceful, too. On Thursday afternoon, the Facebook event page was changed to "Cancelled: Hollywood Alley 25th Anniversary Weekend." Just after midnight Friday, it was renamed "Tribute to Hollywood Alley."

Now commemorating the only 25 years of Hollywood Alley, instead of the first, "Tribute to Hollywood Alley" will take place over three nights at Chop and Wok in Scottsdale. Already, a number of bands scheduled for the original show have reconfirmed for the new venue; they're "looking at an option" for three-night passes at $25.

Details are still forthcoming -- Hollywood Alley hasn't even closed yet -- but for now, it looks like the point and the location have changed, but the show will go on. Stand by for those forthcoming details on their event page.

If you can't wait -- or you'd rather pay your last respects in the building -- keep in mind that The Speak Easy is putting together a final Alley-hosted night tonight at 8.
