There are lots of three and four-word band names among this week's just announced shows -- Cage The Elephant, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Panic! at the Disco, to name a few. However, as someone who is utterly fascinated with hair metal and early 1980's Sunset Strip, how can I resist, if you will, the forthcoming Motley Crüe/Poison show at the atrociously named Ashley Furniture HomeStore Pavilion?

I make no qualms about being a big fan of Poison lead singer Bret Michaels and the Crüe's The Dirt is one of the most fascinating books ever written. Combine those two bands with opener New York Dolls -- the one band that was way too ahead of its time and had a significant influence over both Poison and Motley Crüe (some rockers had to be the first to dress like women) -- and you've got yourself quite a summer tour. Sure, the primary fans of all three bands probably all have children in their teens -- if not off to college -- but once you're a hair metal fan, you're always a hair metal fan. Those colors don't run.

Joining Motley Crüe with just announced shows of their own are Cage The Elephant, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Eisley and Panic! at the Disco.
