Kris Roe, picking at his gee-tar.
We got a rather excited-sounding text message on our cell phone last night from Jeremiah Gratza (a.k.a. President Gator) of Stateside Presents informing us of a rather cool upcoming gig he just booked with Kris Roe, singer/songwriter/guitarist for pop-punk band The Ataris on Friday, January 9.
Here's the word directly from the cell phone of Mr. Gratza himself, which pretty much gives the lowdown on the show:
I just confirmed Kris Roe (of The Ataris) at Chyro Arts (1330 N. Scottsdale Rd.). He's going to be playing "Blue Skys" acoustic.
Gratza, of course, is referring to the fact that Roe will be performing all of the tracks from The Ataris renowned second album Blue Skies, Broken Hearts...Next 12 Exits acoustically, as well as some solo songs he's been working on.
Also on the bill will be locals February State and Bring on the Fame. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
In other Stateside Presents news, the indie promoter has also booked British electronica pop band Fujiya & Miyagi for a performance at the Rhythm Room on Monday, March 2. Tickets are $15.
Here's the music video for the band's rather infectious 2007 song "Knickerbocker":
