Were you too young to see the final Beatles concert 40 years ago or, perhaps, you simply missed it? It did take place in London, after all. Well, don't fret. Arizona Beatles tribute band AZ Beats will re-create the legendary band's final performance, which took place in London on Jan. 30, 1969. The show will be at 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 30, on the rooftop of Phoenix's Tom's Restaurant & Tavern, 2 N. Central Ave.
The band will re-create the performance, from the sets to the costumes to the instruments that the Beatles used. And the set, titled the "Let It Be" set, will feature tracks from this last show, including "Get Back," "Don't Let Me Down," I've Got a Feeling," "One After 909," and "Dig a Pony."
The members -- James Lus (John Lennon), Ken Howard (Paul McCartney), Adam Schafhauser (George Harrison) and Laurie Lus (Ringo Starr) -- met at an East Valley Bible Church where they play in the worship ministry. They bonded over their zeal for The Beatles. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. Call 602-257-1688 for more information.
