OnePlace -- the downtown music venue that infamously doubles as a church -- announced last night on MySpace that they are closing their doors. The 2006 Best of Phoenix winner will be holding their final show on July 31.

Here's the bulletin post from OnePlace's Joshua Daniel:

All good things must come to an end. The time has come for OnePlace to close our doors. Our last show will be July 31st.

I could easily write a novel on the subject, but I’ll try to keep this short and sweet. As some of you may or may not know we have shared the building with a church from the start, sharing rent, the building, equipment and so on… After the last few years the church has decided to close their doors and move on. I’ve tried everything I know to find a way to keep the venue open but due to the location of the venue rent is extremely high and impossible to afford no matter which way you slice it. Even as busy as we are, to fund the room solely as a venue just isn’t possible. I’ve looked into moving locations but start up costs are a bit much for where I’m at in life right now.

Perhaps someday I’ll open up somewhere new.

It’s been a very fun ride and I’ve really enjoyed working with all of you, and seeing kids come back time and time again. Watching the venue grow has been an incredible experience for me and it wouldn’t have been possible with out you. I personally would like to thank Zack for his time and hard work he put in getting this venue heading down the right path, none of this would have got near the level it did without him. Also, Mandi, Gavin, Gabe, Nick and anyone else involved in the earlier days that brought us where we are today. All the promoters, far to many to list but a quick few: Will, Michelle, Josh, Erin, Caleb, Tim, Tim, Jeremiah and the list goes on. Thank you for trusting me with your shows and all the support you gave me. Obviously, you all were the backbone to this whole deal. You can’t have shows without some killer promoters so thank you. If it wasn’t for these people the venue never would have got off the ground or to what we all turned it into.

Thank you all for your time, love, and support. Come hang out at a show within the next few weeks before it’s all over.
