When the Lost Lake Festival was announced back in March, it was big news. And that isn’t surprising, given everything involved with the event.

And then there’s Lost Lake’s mix of art, culture, and food, each curated by local tastemakers, ranging from chef Chris Bianco to artists Isaac and Gabriel Fortoul.
Oh, yeah, and there’s also going to be music, too. A lot of it, in fact. More than 40 different acts and artists are scheduled to perform at Lost Lake, which runs from Friday, October 20, to Sunday, October 22, including Chance the Rapper, Run the Jewels, Major Lazer, Pixies, Crystal Castles, The Killers, and Huey Lewis and the News, just to name a few.
Lost Lake is still a big deal. It’s also going to be a hullabaloo of sights, sounds, and activity all three days that’s expected to feature thousands of Valley residents in attendance.
And if you’re going to be one of them, we’ve assembled a guide with everything you’ll need to know.
When and Where: Lost Lake Festival will run from Friday, October 20, to Sunday, October 22, at Steele Indian School Park, 300 East Indian School Road. Event hours are 2 to 11 p.m. on Friday, 12:30 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 12:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Age Limits: It’s an all-ages event, and admission’s free for kids 10 and younger. There will even be a "Silly Slope" area filled with kid-friendly activities, including the chance to make their own instruments, hats, and wristbands. It's free for attendees and runs until 6 p.m. each day.
Since Lost Lake is a music festival, though, hearing protection for children would be a wise choice. Some performers might say some naughty words during their sets, so be prepared for some awkward conversations.
Weather: Expect mostly sunny skies and daytime temperatures around 90 degrees throughout the weekend. It’ll get chilly after dark, so consider bringing a hoodie or light jacket.
Getting There: Take the light rail,
Party monsters who’d like to pregame before the festival can also take official Lost Lake shuttles. Buses will depart daily from El Hefe in Tempe, Bottled Blonde in Scottsdale, and Cabin Whiskey & Grill in Peoria. It’s $30 per person, per day. Return trips are included. Parking: So you gotta drive, huh? Forget about stashing your ride in the residential neighborhoods surrounding the park, since you’ll be towed — guaranteed. Instead, use one of the free park and rides located along the light rail. There will be no parking at the festival.
If you're going to cycle to the event, a "Bike Valet" will be available to store your two-wheeler during the festival.
Getting Inside and Security: Entrances will be located on Third Street north of Indian School Road and at Central and Glenrosa avenues. According to Superfly, security will have metal detectors and conduct pat-downs and bag searches at each entrance. In other words, be prepared to wait.
Also, keep in mind that re-entry generally won’t be allowed, except under special circumstances (and you’ll have to speak with a supervisor for permission).

Daily Lineups and Schedule: The heart of Lost Lake (and its biggest draw) is, of course, the enormous roster of acts. And it’s going to be wall-to-wall with music.

Visual Art: The work of local artists will be found throughout the festival. Issac and Gabriel Fortoul will create unique backdrops for each of Lost Lake’s different stages. Over the weekend, murals will be created on-site by nine artists, including Adam Montoya, Lisa Von Hoffner, David Bessent, and Isaac Caruso. Live art sessions will also take place. Games and Activities: If all the art, music, and people-watching isn’t enough to keep you occupied, there will also be a "Lost Playground" filled with gonzo distractions. Walter Productions (the local company behind ultra-colorful art cars like Kalliope and Walter the Bus) are running it, and serving up oversized games like “big ass billiards,” “colossal croquet,” and “giant foosball,” as well as ginormous versions of Jenga and Twister. They’re also promising LED table tennis and other surprises.
Vendors: More than 20 local makers, artisans, and vendors will be featured in Lost Lake's marketplace, which has been dubbed "Found." According to Superfly, they'll be selling everything from organic skincare and vintage clothing to skateboards and paintings.
Food and Drink: Put simply, the food and drink options at Lost Lake will be a cut above the fast-casual stuff you’ll find at most music festivals. Local chef Chris Bianco (a.k.a. Lost Lake’s “culinary ambassador”) curated the food and drink selection, which includes four different “experience areas.”
There’s “Phoenix Flavors,” which will offer a mix of local restaurants (Casa Anejo, Clever Koi, Gadzooks, Stock & Stable) and food vendors (Left Coast Burrito, Gangsta Burger, Hot Bamboo, Hummus Xpress). Carnivores in search of sustenance can check out “The Lava Pit,” which features barbecue from Starlite Pitmaster and Tom’s BBQ.
The “Brewpark” will offer beers from 19 different breweries from Arizona and elsewhere, including SanTan, Grand Canyon, College Street, Dragoon, Saint Archer, Hop Valley, and Ska. Elsewhere, you'll find a variety of booths and areas sponsored by liquor brands, like the Jim Beam Apple Refresh Fest, Hacienda by Hornitos, and the Deep Eddy Vodka’s Dive In Tour.
Water: You’ll need to drink a lot of it. A lot. You’re going to be out in the sun and exerting yourself for up to 10 hours or more. Hit up any of the free refill stations around the park (aluminum/plastic bottles and Camelbak-type water containers are allowed) or purchase water from the vendors.
Bring: A fully charged
Don’t Bring: The usual no-nos are all forbidden, including weapons, drugs, large bags, outside alcohol, fireworks, umbrellas, chairs, tents, drones, strollers, and laser pointers. And forget about Native American headdresses. It’s 2017 and those are a major faux pas.
After-Parties: If you (somehow) still have energy left after spending the entire day at the park, Crescent Ballroom will host “Lost Lake Late Nights” after-parties starting at 11 p.m. each evening. It’s $25 to $40 per show. Performers will include Kongos and Young Mothers on Friday, Lil Jon and DJ M’Rocka on Saturday, and Diplo and Trackstar the DJ on Sunday.
