It's been a pretty great year for New Times when it comes to lining up headliners for our Summer of Sound showcase featuring the best local bands of five genres. First we had hard-nosed LA R&B band The BellRays, who killed at our Americana show at Mill Cue Club. Then, we had Jim Adkins make his very first DJ appearance (with an assist from William Fucking Reed) at our pop show.

Now, No Age. The Los Angeles noise-pop act has a Grammy nomination, one of the best reviews Pitchfork wrote last year (an ultra-rare 9.2!) and a glowing endorsement from me after their Modified Arts show earlier this year.

This would be a must-see show, even without four of the very best indie bands in Phoenix in Dry River Yacht Club, Miles To Nowhere, Gospel Claws, and Michelle Blades.
