We know our audience here at Up On the Sun isn't the type to snub its nose toward local music, but if your friends have been willfully ignorant to the scene, there are no more excuses.
And if they're still making excuses, blindfold them and take them downtown. The Phoenix Center for the Arts is practically forcing new music down the city's throat... in the best sort of way. (Uh, whatever that means.) Each new month, the center will devote "New Music Mondays" to local bands and those willing to open their minds toward young talent.
The first show kicks off with regular Lost Leaf jazz rockers Sunorus and baroque pop's Sweetbleeders on November 7, all hosted by The Trunk Space, longtime purveyors of local and relatively unknown bands.
It's all hosted at the Phoenix Center for the Arts' new, intimate, 215-person Third Street Theater. Tickets are $5 at the door.
