Scottsdale's Canyon Club Closes, Misfits and Leon Russell Shows Moved

Less than two months ago, we announced the arrival of North Scottsdale's Canyon Club. Just as the venue began gaining ground with music fans, we received word that the venue has officially closed.

No further explanation was offered.

For now, some of the venue's previously scheduled shows have been moved. Other artists seem to not yet know about the Canyon Club's short-lived life. They still have the shows up and publicized on their official websites. Leon Russell's October 18 show has been moved to the even more intimate Rhythm Room. It's a good chance to see the country rock legend and recent Elton John collaborator up close and personal.

Today, Psyko Steve announced that The Misfits show has been moved to The Venue Scottsdale on Friday, October 7.

Frankly, I'm a little bummed to see the venue close so early. While they didn't do much renovation to the place from its former incarnation as Fox Sports Grill (They, uh, just sort of flung a plastic sign over the old Fox neon,) it was the classy, older, more sophisticated answer to young, causal music hangouts like Tempe's long-lasting Yucca Tap Room.

We'll keep you updated about the fates of the once-schedule Poco, Plain White T's, Robert Cray and more as rescheduling confirmations roll in.
