Former Polyphonic Spree member Annie Clark, better known to the world as St. Vincent, will be bringing her fantastic brand of dark, melodic indie pop to the Valley this May. The former member of Sufjan Stevens' band will release her new album, Actor, on May 5 as a follow-up to 2007's remarkable Marry Me. Clark's live shows are notorious for showcasing her thundering stage presence and her penchant for grooving (and spazzing out) to her music. Her Phoenix date will be part of her headlining tour in support of Actor. Not familiar with Annie's music? Then, please, keep reading.

St. Vincent will be playing a few shows at SxSW this week, followed by a spot at this year's Sasquatch! Music Festival this Memorial Day weekend. Annie played last year's Coachella in a set that yours truly greatly relished. My excitement regarding her playing Modified is absolutely palpable and I have faith that she will provide an amazing show for those lucky enough to be in attendance. No support has been announced as of yet.

St. Vincent will play Modified Arts on May 31.

Actor will be released May 5 via 4AD.

Check out St. Vincent's website for the complete tour dates.

Please to enjoy the song "The Strangers," the lead track off of Actor.
