"So few bands are covering Ike & Tina Turner. It's a great tradition of rock 'n roll that's kind of lost on our generation," says Medicine Tent's guitarist, Mike Logan, "so we want to capture it and share it with the world."

Vocalist Michelle Kable came up with the idea to cover "Should'a Treated Me Right" while listening to the radio.

"I love Tina Turner, but I also acknowledge that I am not Tina Turner. I try to do my best to pay an honor to her in the song and just have fun, that's the biggest thing," she says, "when we perform, we just like to have a good time, so we picked a song that's upbeat that we can all have a lot of fun with."

"Should'a Treated Me Right" regularly finds its way into Medicine Tent's live performances because it usually gets the audience moving.

"At the beginning of rock 'n roll, you have all of these African American artists who were brought up in that tradition of church and grew up as gospel singers. It's really one of those first experiments of where gospel is forming rock 'n roll," says Logan about the song, "It has a spiritual live feel to it, so when you play it live in front of an audience, the audience really feels it." Medicine Tent's next show is Friday, October 12 at Donna Jean's Libations. There is a $3 cover if you mention Medicine Tent at the door.
