Yesterday, NME revealed the unfortunate news that the rumor that The Rolling Stoneswere headlining Coachella was just that-- a rumor.
"We're not gonna do Coachella 'cos it's too early," Mick Jagger told the magazine. "We're not gonna be ready to go by April, but we're not gonna stop."
Looks like we'll have to keep our fingers crossed that Goldenvoice answers our prayers for David Bowie and/or Daft Punk.

That begs the question: What the heck did Goldenvoice mean by its New Year's "Rolling Stone" Instagram post? Could it be a hint toward The Stone Roses, or does someone just have a good sense of humor and/or wanted to mess with people? We'll see for sure when the lineup gets released, which should be any day now.
This chart suggests that the line up should have been announced in early January, since the announcements have been going out a little earlier each year. Based on the chart's trends since 2005, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that the line up will be announced before the end of the month.
In the mean time, Consequence of Sound is on top of the developing line up. Recent additions include Bat For Lashes, Infected Mushroom, Rodriguez and The Postal Service. Fan favorites like Bjork are still listed, but Wu-Tang Clan has since been removed.
The big news of a Postal Service reunion came out yesterday. The synthpop band is reuniting in time for the 10th anniversary of Give Up, which will be paired with a deluxe reissue and a performance at Coachella.
Last year, Ben Gibbard tweeted that "people shouldn't hold their breath" for a new Postal Service record. Perhaps that will change, but that does mean that the band will performing most, if not all of Give Up at Coachella. After all, we still have a great Death Cab For Cutie to look forward to thanks to Gibbard's break up with Zooey Deschanel. Stateside Presents' calendar offers a few more hints based on the bands that are playing around the two weekends of Coachella. Black Lips may be here a little too early, but Beach House has already sold out its April 9 show at Crescent Ballroom, and the acclaim of Bloom makes them a good choice for the festival. Lucero and Local Natives will both be in the state the Monday immediately following weekend one, and later that week, Tyrone Wells, Rodriguez (who's confirmed to play Coachella), and Crystal Castles have shows as well.
