It's going to be a busy week for local music lovers.

As we get closer to Coachella we can expect a slew of bands from all over to make a pit stop in The Valley before heading to Indio, CA. We've already had performances from day 2 headliners Muse as well as fellow performers Vampire Weekend and there is still a lot more to come.

One band on their way to Coachella that will make a stopover in Tempe on Thursday at the Clubhouse Music Venue is Australian pop-rockers The Temper Trap.

The Melbourne foursome is probably best known here in the US for their song "Sweet Disposition," which was featured in the movie trailers for the film (500) Days of Summer. The track was definitely one the highlights of the romantic comedy's indie-centric movie soundtrack.

The band has been touring steadily in support of their 2009 debut album entitled Conditions. For the album the band enlisted the services of veteran producer Steve Abbiss, who has worked with the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Editors, and Kasabian. The album was a huge hit critically and commercially in the bands native homeland of Australia, including winning "Album of the Year" at the ARIA Music Awards, the Aussie version of the Grammys.

In June of 2009 the band relocated from Melbourne to London as part of a strategic effort to be more centrally located and increase their fan base. It is a move I would like to think would cause the Aussie version of New Times music editor Martin Cizmar to declare "Melbourne is OVAH."

I recently spoke with Temper Trap drummer Toby Dundas for an interview I had planned to post on this blog. Sadly, due to some technical difficulties most of the interview was lost.

A couple of things that we discussed during our phone interview included their upcoming show at the Clubhouse - this will be the band's first ever performance in Arizona - and their slot at Coachella. Naturally, the band is excited to be performing at the mega-festival but is also very much looking forward to catching some of the other bands performing such as Jay-Z, Gorillaz and Thom Yorke's new side project Atoms for Peace.

And what did the band think of the film (500) Days of Summer? "Pretty good," says Dundas. "It definitely had its moments."

Tickets are still available for The Temper Trap's show at the Clubhouse on Thursday. The band will be performing with Denmark band The Kissaway Trail. For more info on the show be sure to check out Stateside Presents website here.
