We'll get the answer later tonight, as both will be going head-to-head against 10 other local beatsmiths and hip-hop producers during the Red Bull Big Tune competition going at the PHX Nightclub (122 East Washington Street, 602-258-1830).
Never been to a beat battle before? Hit the jump for an explanation of what's in store, fool, as well as a list of who's gonna pop off with their sickest shit and some video clips of the contenders in action.
Here's the 411: Participants will pit their freshest instrumental jams (a.k.a. the non-lyrical portion of hip-hop songs) that they've created utilizing samplers, turntables, and other tools of the trade against their opponents in single-elimination style. The competition promises to be fierce, as evidenced by this video of Young Seph creating some of his intoxicating beats
After schooling their rivals, the top two beat-makers from tonight will go on to the national Red Bull Big Tune finals in October in the ATL, with the winner getting to collaborate with a big-name hip-hop/R&B superstar. Sounds pretty choice, no? It's probably why some of the sickest local talent is going be battling tonight in downtown P-Town. The list of competitors includes G-Unit producer Taurus Scott, as well as Deuce Wilde, who's worked with the PHX's Sol Camp and Yung Money.
Here's the rest on the line-up:
