When you put your key in the ignition and turn on the radio, what station would play right now? Currently, my car radio defaults to KWSS 106.7-FM, which hosts my Friday/Saturday night program, Live Transmission with William Reed (Friday, 10 p.m-midnight, Saturday, midnight-2 a.m.).

What's the first album you bought? The Clash, London Calling

What's the first concert you saw? Guns N' Roses, playing to sold-out crowd at CBGB in the fall of 1987. Unreal.

What's your favorite concert you've ever been to? Most recently, Empire of The Sun. They nailed the live element on every level -- sound, lighting, costuming, set design, theatrics, choreography. They completely set the bench mark for stage performance. Prior concerts would be a toss-up between Richard D. James, aka Aphex Twin, playing an all-analogue live set at Organic '97 on Big Bear Mountain and Daft Punk's now legendary performance at Coachella 2007. And, of course, Rolling Stones at Wembley Stadium 2003.

What's the last song played on your music player? Serge Gainsbourg, "Requiem Pour Un C."

Preferred format: CD, vinyl, cassette, 8-Track or digital? Vinyl. Nothing compares to the rich, warm tones of acetate.

What's your favorite album? The Clash, London Calling

Who is your favorite singer or band? The Clash.

Does you computer track how many times you've played something -- if so,
what's at the top of the list?
It does, but it's not accurate. Let me have a look -- OK, iTunes is telling me my top five artists played are The Smiths, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy and The Buzzcocks.

What was your favorite new or new-to-you album from 2011? I'd say Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, by M83, or Zola Jesus, Conatus

What one song would you play if you had a world-wide radio audience? The forthcoming single by my new, just-announced project, Blaque Panther Disco. I'll let you know when it's about to drop. In the meantime, we have shows scheduled with Tyger & Woods, Aeroplane and RAC locally this spring and a West Coast tour and European dates this summer.

Who is your favorite local artist? That's a tough one -- there are so many talented producers and bands living in the Valley. Just a few off the cuff include Being Cool Is Lonely, Glass Heroes and Sonorous.

What is your favorite local venue to see music? Crescent Ballroom. They nailed it. Second place would be Orpheum Theatre

What is your favorite music video? Reggie Watts, "Fuck, Shit, Stack." He's coming to town next month. Looking forward to working on a new track together.
