As announced via the Matablog, Matador Records' blog, seminal indie rockers Yo La Tengo have announced a spiffy new fall tour, complete with a date at the Marquee Theater October 14. This is in support of their new album, Popular Songs, due out September 8. This is a boon for The Valley's live scene, keeping in form with my prediction that this late summer/early fall will be one for the books.
Yo La Tengo formed in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1984 -- for those of you keeping track, the band is as old as I am. They have an impressive collection of studio albums, dating back to 1986's Ride The Tiger on up through their 2006's I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass. Yo La Tengo has been on the Matador Records roster since 1993, producing 8 albums for the label with the release of September's Popular Songs -- also including their little Condo Fucks project.
