Z-Trip to Perform at Livewire on New Year's Eve

Fans of the Valley’s old-school dance music scene are about to get a chance to check out some of their heroes from back in the day in action once again. That’s because some of Phoenix’s more legendary DJs will be hitting the decks over the next couple of weeks at local clubs and events.

That includes such names as CL McSpadden, who’s scheduled to perform at the annual Mary X-Mas rave on the night after Christmas, Scottsdale expat Markus Schulz is heading back to town in mid-January, and house music maestro (and Grammy nominee) Eddie Amador will be headlining Next Dimension Music’s 10th anniversary party this weekend at SideBar. (We’ve even heard a rumor or two that Mija might be playing some sort of under-the-radar gig during the Christmas weekend as well). 

You can also add the Z-Trip to that list as the local turntablist icon and former Arizona resident, who cut his teeth and rose to worldwide fame in the early aughts after working the wheels in Valley scene for years, is scheduled to headline Livewire’s New Year’s Eve party on Thursday, December 31.

Valley nightlife promoter Steve Levine Entertainment announced the gig earlier today. Local reggae-rock band Black Bottom Lighters, who released their first album earlier this year, will also perform at the party, which kicks off at 9 p.m.


Z-Trip, born Zach Sciacca, last showed off his skills on the turntables for his hometown back in April during the national finals of the Red Bull Thr3estyle DJ battle, where he also served as a judge, which we documented in our video recap of the event.

Tickets for the New Year's Eve party at Livewire are $15.
