We're now getting to the point where it's impossible to go 24 hours without hearing a rumor from a legitimate sports reporter involving a quarterback and the Arizona Cardinals.
On Tuesday, the Arizona Republic's Kent Somers said the Cardinals were "exploring the possibility" of trading for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith, who was traded to Kansas City yesterday. Don't worry, another rumor has replaced it -- now ESPN's Adam Schefter says the Cardinals may be interested in Matt Cassel, who was the Chiefs' number-one quarterback until yesterday.

This off-season, we've polled our readers on three quarterback rumors involving the Cardinals (Cassel's the fourth). Here's how they've turned out:
Again, we'll note that the Cardinals still have Kevin Kolb, who led the Cardinals to some victories before sustaining a season-ending injury.
For now, though, ESPN's Schefter says, "Look for Matt Cassel to be one of the quarterbacks on the Cardinals' radar. Cassel also will receive interest from other teams."
It's not clear why the Cardinals would ever think Cassel's an appropriate replacement for Kolb. Cassel only played around half the games last season and the season before, mostly due to injury.
Last season -- in which the Chiefs won one game in eight attempts with Cassel as the starting quarterback -- he threw six touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Cassel hit the bench due to an injury, and even though he was cleared to play several games later, he stayed on the bench, as the Chiefs rolled with Brady Quinn.
So, Cardinals fans, would you want Cassel as the Cards' new quarterback?
