The Arizona Cardinals beat the San Francisco 49ers 21-19 yesterday for the team's fifth win in 6 games -- and that's after starting the season 1-6.
Cards' quarterback Kevin Kolb went down early with concussion-like symptoms after getting drilled by Niners linesbacker Ahmad Brooks.
Enter B-squad QB John Skelton, who replaced Kolb early in the first quarter, and threw for 282 and three touchdowns in the win. Skelton also lobbed up two interceptions giving him a QB rating of 106.5
"You're only as good as your last play, your last game," Skelton told reporters after the game.
"You kind of have to live with that until you get another opportunity.
You never know when that opportunity is. You've just got to be ready and
make the most of it."
On November 20, Skelton was benched after throwing three interceptions in a 23-7 loss to San Fran.
Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald led the team in receiving with 149 yards
on seven catches, including a 46-yard touchdown catch from Skelton to
put the Cards within five going into the fourth quarter.
The Cards' defense held the 49ers to no points in the fourth, and a
3-yard touchdown pass to Andre Roberts was the final nail in the Niners'
coffin.
The Cardinals are now 6-7. They host the Cleveland Browns next Week. Click here for more Cards details.
