DUI task forces around the state arrested 500 people on DUI charges this weekend, including Monday, Cinco de Mayo.

Of those 500 people, 155 of them were arrested on a charge of "extreme" DUI, meaning their blood-alcohol level was at least double the legal limit of .08.

For the sake of comparison, St. Patrick's Day resulted in 413 DUI arrests statewide this year.

Although we literally published maps of where police would be this weekend around Phoenix, officers still pulled over more than 11,000 people this weekend.

In addition to the 500 DUIs, nearly 1,500 speeding tickets were handed out, and 101 people were busted for criminal speeding. More than 3,000 other people received some sort of citation other than speeding.
