Guess what? Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is no fan of the healthcare reform bill getting pushed through Congress, and she let House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid know about it in a letter penned yesterday.
Not that they'll care what she thinks.
In the letter, partisan Brewer claims, "The devastating impacts of the federal legislation will rob Arizonans of their rights and pocketbooks alike."
Brewer spews that by forcing people to purchase healthcare, the federal government would be violating citizens' individual liberties and cites the Congressional Budget Office as saying, "The government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States."
Yeah, let's just continue with poor people flooding hospital emergency rooms because they don't have insurance -- at all our expense -- because the likes of Brewer don't want the feds being all un-American and requring them to have insurance.
We all know this isn't the real reason pols like Brewer oppose Obamacare.
Brewer is among several governors and lawmakers taking a stand against the legislation, including Idaho Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter, who signed a bill yesterday that would force the Idaho attorney general to sue the federal government if citizens are forced to buy health insurance.
Similar legislation is getting drafted in 37 other states. Note: We said "drafted" here, 'cause every state has Republicans in their Legislatures. This doesn't mean such measures will be passed and signed into law in all those states, though the GOP-controlled Arizona Legislature will probably push something through.
