A Mesa man is accused in a series of drive-by masturbations, in which police say he'd pull over his truck, open the doors, and masturbate in front of children, before speeding away.
Police arrested 28-year-old Brett Saltus after detectives followed his truck, and caught him in the act, according to court documents obtained by New Times.
Detectives had been following the red Ford Ranger truck that had been connected to other incidents, and saw it pull over near three young girls playing near the entrance to an apartment complex on University Drive.
"Victim number three, 10 years old, was one of those girls, and observed the defendant pull his penis out of the front of his shorts and rub his penis while looking at her," court documents state. "She screamed and ran away crying with her two 9 year old friends who did not see the defendant[']s actions."
The truck drove off after the girl screamed, and while one set of detectives were interviewing the girl, another set followed the truck -- which pulled over, as Saltus again pulled over, opened the doors, and started masturbating in front of a 13-year-old girl, according to the documents.
Police moved in to arrest Saltus at that point, but he backed into a detective's unmarked vehicle before being boxed in, and struggled a bit before being pulled out of the vehicle, hit with the taser, and arrested.
According to court documents, the red truck actually belonged to Saltus' brother.
Saltus was booked into jail on several charges, including multiple public sexual indecency charges, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault.
