A Mesa woman says gave trick-or-treaters a special prize on Halloween -- her own wedding ring.
Since then, the story of Brooklin Yazzie's lost ring, reported on Saturday by ABC-15 News (KNXV-TV) has been picked up by news outlets around the world. Any ghouls and goblins who hit the Yazzie house up for candy near Broadway and Dobson roads ought to check their haul for something gold and shiny.
Yazzie says the ring is only worth about $50 to anyone else -- she and her hubby didn't have much money when they got hitched 10 years ago. To her, naturally, it's priceless.
"It's my wedding ring, you know? I mean you could replace it but it's not the same," she told the TV station.
She claims she removed the wedding ring while helping her kids carve pumpkins, and put it in a candy jar. She later dumped the contents into a bag with candy and plastic rings for trick-or-treaters. Apparently, all of the bag's contents -- including the wedding ring --was handed out on Friday night to trick-or-treaters.
Yazzie and her family put fliers up around the neighborhood over the weekend, asking people to return the ring if they find it. So far, no luck. She's giving out her email address to the public ([email protected]) in hopes that someone will contact her with info.
She'll probably be happy to swap it out with some kid for a Ring Pop.
