It's official: Giant George, a great dane living in Tucson, is the tallest dog in the world.
The Guinness Book of World Records announced today that George is, in fact, the tallest pooch on the planet, an honor his owner had been seeking since August.
We wrote about George earlier this month, when his owners were still in the process of filing paperwork with Guinness, but after sending an official to measure the behemoth canine, Guinness has determined that George is the four-legged Robert Wadlow.
George weighs 245 pounds and stands an incredible 7 feet, 3 inches tall when on his hind legs. He stands 43 inches from paw to shoulder, which is the measurement Guinness uses when determining the height of the dog.
According to George's owner, David Nasser, George eats more than 110 pounds of food each month and sleeps in his own queen-size bed.
George will be taking over for a great dane named Gibson, who was the world's tallest dog until his death in August.
Gibson stood 42 inches tall, so even if he were still alive, George would be top dog.
All the notoriety seems to have turned George into a bit of a diva. He has his own Facebook and Twitter pages, recently appeared in a spread in In Touch magazine, and will be appearing on Oprah today.
The show claims he was given his own row of seats on an American Airlines flight to Chicago -- even J-Lo only requires one seat.
