Bashas' will pay nearly $300 million in debts in regular installments. The plan may be accepted in U.S. Bankruptcy Court as early as April, but some of the debts may not be paid back for 10 years...Five candidates for the Mesa Chief of Police met the public yesterday to give Mesa residents a chance to get to know Chief George Gascon's possible replacement. The candidates include Mesa assistant police chiefs Mike Denney, Mike Dvorak, and John Meza, Phoenix Assistant Police Chief Blake McClelland, and Phoenix Commander Frank Milstead. Chris Brady...A snowboarder, who went missing Wednesday at Snow Bowl was found yesterday. Search-and-rescue teams followed tracks on the mountain that ultimately led them to Jordan Delgadillo, 19, of Gilbert. There was no word on his condition...The Department of Commerce on Thursday announced that the unemployment rate in Arizona has risen. The rate increased to 9.1 percent in December, up from 8.9 percent in November...A Florida man has been sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison for trying to have sex with a child. Charles A. Soderman, 31, flew from his home in Marathon, Florida, to Yuma to try to have sex with a boy as young as 6. He was sentenced yesterday, and in addition to his time behind bars, he must register as a sex offender and be on a lifetime supervised release after he gets out of prison.
