The opulent Mondrian resort in Scottsdale is facing foreclosure, after the owners failed to restructure $40 million in delinquent loans. The hotel, one of a dozen owned by New York-based Morgan Hotel Group, remains open for now, but a notice of trustee's sale was filed this week, with an initial auction date of March 10...A legislative panel refused to recommend changes to Arizona's Private School Tax Credits Program yesterday. One of the proposed changes was an income limit for families receiving tuition scholarships. Instead, the official House committee that reviewed the program recommended lawmakers increase the amounts of money taxpayers can donate to the program...Divers are expected to begin searching a Mesa canal to find a young boy who jumped into the canal to save another boy. Aldo Rubio, 7, reportedly jumped into the canal after an 11 year-old friend fell in. The older boy made it out, but Rubio never resurfaced. A Mesa Police Department spokesman said Rubio is "presumed dead"...

The funeral for Tempe firefighter Skylar Stock, killed when a tree struck his camping tent during a storm, is Saturday. The tree, which lost 15 feet at the top to 70- mile-per-hour winds, is now adorned with a giant Santa hat...A Florida woman faces domestic-violence charges after allegedly hitting her boyfriend with a steak. The couple had reportedly been arguing about what type of bread to eat when the woman slapped the man on top of the head with the meat. The woman denied using the steak as a weapon, but admitted to slapping the man several times "so he can learn."
