The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office tells New Times that it plans to release surveillance video of Ernest "Marty" Atencio getting tased while being booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail some time in the next 48 hours.

Atencio died yesterday afternoon after spending several days on life support at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix after getting tased by MCSO detention officers early Friday morning.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio refused to discuss the Atencio death this afternoon at a press conference at the MCSO's west Phoenix training facility. A spokesman for the Sheriff's Office says a written statement will be released with the video.

We'll be sure to post the video as soon as it's made available.
