Authorities from the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma say a Marine who's been missing for nearly two weeks has returned to the base and turned himself in.

The Yuma base says Sergeant Jonathan Kyle Ferguson returned to the base about 10:30 p.m. yesterday, after calling his family.

Ferguson has been missing since February 14, when he was last seen at an IHOP restaurant in Yuma about 3:30 a.m.

Law enforcement agencies spent a lot of resources in their search for Ferguson -- search and rescue crews conducted air and ground searches in northwest Yuma close to the Colorado River. Border agents with canines aided in the search.

Ferguson has been in the military since 2007. He recently returned from a seven-month deployment to Afghanistan.

Ferguson's family in West Monroe, Louisiana, say he's close to finishing his training and they're adamant that he hadn't gone AWOL. Apparently, they were wrong.

It's unclear where Ferguson's been for the last 10 days. According to the base, Ferguson is now in the custody of NCIS for further questioning about the disappearance.

Military officials have not yet decided whether any military or civilian legal action will be taken.
