Child Protective Services is catching some heat following the murder of a 6-year-old Phoenix boy.
Police say Jacob Gibson was beaten with a wire hanger and a belt buckle by his parents, Benny Gibson, 49, and Jennifer Edna Paul, 37.
Jacob died Sunday -- about a week after the beating.
Turns out, Jacob's parents already were on CPS' radar. The agency currently has five open cases on the family regarding alleged child abuse.
Jacob, however, remained in the home -- and the beatings continued until he ultimately was killed.
CPS didn't physically kill the 6-year-old, but did its inaction lead to the boy's death?
